Prof. Rob Wilson
I started working in philosophy for children while I was an undergraduate at UWA in 1984 and it was what inspired me to go on to complete my PhD and eventually become a professor in Canada, the US, and Australia. Kids are exciting thinkers and quickly acquire the playful tools to become great engagers of ideas! My most recent books are Kin Matters: Relational Beings in the Fragile Sciences (Oxford 2026) and Eugenification+ (near completion).
Dr. Kaz Bland
I discovered philosophy in my 30’s as an undergrad trying to escape cooking for the rest of my life. I see philosophy as very practical – a method of thinking carefully and critically about BIG problems. I like that whilst there may be no solutions, there are better and worse ways of thinking things through.
Dr. Lucia C. Neco (Luba)
I’m a Brazilian philosopher–biologist with a PhD from UWA and currently a Juan de la Cierva Research Fellow at the University of Murcia, Spain, thinking about how our social worlds intertwine with other species. I especially love philosophising with kids in Perth as part of the PEiPL network.
Matt Stewart
I have worked for many years as a professional theatre practitioner, manager, trainer, and facilitator. Recently, as the Director of Arts and Education at Constable Care Foundation, a large part of my focus has been developing engagement programs for young people at risk and in detention, using film-making as the key. So, even though I am the only non-philosopher on this board, stimulating critical thinking skills has always been close to my heart and it is an honour for me to be a part of this team.
Dr. Joseph Steinberg
I like to say I have the best job ever, because I’m lucky enough to be paid to read books. I’m able to do this because I’m a lecturer at the University of Queensland and a researcher at the University of Western Australia. I’m also a qualified teacher, and I enjoy working with schools, teachers and students whenever I’m able.
